Uh… Wha… No… How on…!?! THIS DEAL IS INSANE!!!

Ryzen 5 2600X CPU

UPDATE: That deal went quick! However, the current price of $174.99 is still ridiculous. You just have to wait till the 16th for stock.

I say it again, “This deal is insane!” My brain broke when I saw this. AMD tweeted about the best selling processor on Amazon. Naturally, Ryzen is going to be the object of the tweet. The processor was the famed 2600X. While a 9600K is a slightly better gaming CPU, the 2600X is a bit better for heavier multitasking. Streamers and content creators would get a bit more use from the extra cores. When I saw that price though, I couldn’t determine if I was living in reality anymore. Radeon VII – The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly

AMD Radeon VII Graphics Card News

The Good – Radeon VII Gets Big Things Right

It’s time for some serious analysis here. When Radeon VII was announced, everyone was taken a bit by surprise. Not only was the news hidden exceptionally well, but AMD wasn’t expected to bring competitive graphics cards to the market for a while still. Before we start celebrating though, we need to look thoroughly at what we’ve learned so far. The reviews for the Radeon VII have been released, and there’s some cons mixed in with the pros of this release. I do see a brighter future for graphics cards though. Ryzen 5 3600X Will Rule Gaming PCs

AMD Ryzen Featured

If the Rumors are True

Leaks are coming around about AMD’s 3rd gen of Ryzen CPUs. If the specs are accurate on the 3600X, I see Ryzen 5 being the ultimate processor for gaming systems. Here’s what we know for sure right now. Not only is AMD going to be using the 7nm manufacturing process, but this is a true architectural update. The Ryzen 2000 series was just a refresh of the first release. With the 3000 series, we’ll actually see what is likely to be a whole new Ryzen. Continue reading “Ryzen 5 3600X Will Rule Gaming PCs”

AMD Releases RX 590

You ever find yourself just wanting to know what Graphics Cards core clocks ended up being? I do, and I was surprised at how difficult it was to not only find some detailed info, but also trying to find homepages for the differing RX 590s. That said, with a little digging I was able to not only uncover the information I wanted, but also find each homepage of the variants of the RX 590. AMD Ryzen 2000 Series Memory Stability Issues? Try This!

AMD has been well-known for its memory stability issues with Ryzen, especially when it first launched. Since then,  however, the AGESA updates have allowed myriads of different memory combinations to finally become usable. I changed my R7 1700 for an R7 2700X on launch, and even went so far as to pre-order the CPU. I was that stoked for it… but I was never able to fully stabilize the memory, even though it was as solid as could be on the R7 1700 I had previously. So, how did I solve the issue? I guess… I’ll tell you a ‘little’ story…

AMD Announces Radeon Pro WX 8200, ProRender Updates

The Battle of the GPUs

In the war between Nvidia and AMD, the green side appears to be the clear winner. AMD fans are longing for a card that can compete with 1080 Ti levels of performance, but the upcoming release of the Turing architecture will broaden the average FPS gap even more. With all the focus on gaming, many PC users can miss the fact that AMD is much more competitive in the professional arena. You won’t find many workstation focused reviews. However, Techgage has a really good write up that showcases the strengths of the two companies. As you would expect, AMD fairs much better in certain software suites. Gigabyte X399 Aorus Motherboard, Definition of Xtreme

Gigabyte Aorus X399 Xtreme News

The Mother of All Boards

I’m a huge fan of Gigabyte’s Aorus branding. The latest addition to their lineup is the X399 Aorus Xtreme motherboard. Since Threadripper Gen 2 is about to release, it makes sense that we’ll see some board refreshes. It looks like the Xtreme pulls out all the stops. The design continues what the X470 Gaming 7 introduced in fins on the heat sinks, RGB covers and addressable lighting. That said, there is a large gamut of solid performance features as well. Specs Leak on AMD Threadripper 2990WX is Just Insane

AMD Threadripper

Update: Pre-Orders Available, Official Name

AMD just announced that the 2nd gen Threadripper series is available for pre-order. We also have an official name for the flagship chip, the 2990WX. I am not gonna lie here. I don’t understand the addition of the “W” there. Still, the important news is that crazy Cinebench score. According to the press release, the flagship CPU scored 7618 when overclocked to 5.1 GHz. This isn’t the chip for everyone’s gaming PC, but it’s  great for professionals. Deep down inside, we all probably want one though.
